Empowerment

Why We Work in Tanzania

Tanzania is a vibrant East African country with beautiful landscapes and humble people, however it is;

  • one of the ten poorest countries in Africa

  • 3.6 million (approx.) children aged 7-17 years out of school

  • Until recently, by law girls are expelled from and banned from returning to school before, during, and after pregnancy. The ramifications of these laws are still felt by those excluded from the education system.

  • If a child does not pass the end of Primary School National exams, they will not be allowed to progress onto Secondary School.

By working closely with our Tanzanian partners, we are able to assess, plan and introduce activities that do not conflict with local values or beliefs. We respect the cultural heritage of the Tanzanian people and communities and do not wish to impose and activities they would be opposed to.

Our Approach to Impact

Every project we support is shaped by three core principles:

1. Community-Led

Local educators, leaders, and families guide the priorities. We listen first and act in partnership.

2. Sustainable

We invest in long-term solutions that create lasting change, not quick fixes.

3. Holistic

Education, health, empowerment, and opportunity are interconnected, each project supports the whole system.

Together, these principles create meaningful, measurable and long-lasting impact in the lives of children and families.

Why Our Projects Matter

Education, safety, dignity, and opportunity are universal rights and the foundation of a thriving community.

Through these six initiatives, we aim to:

  • Improve school attendance and learning outcomes

  • Strengthen girls’ safety and wellbeing

  • Provide basic essentials like water and hygiene

  • Create pathways out of poverty

  • Empower students to grow with confidence

  • Support teachers, families, and future leaders

Every project we deliver is interconnected, people-focused, and rooted in love, respect and community resilience.

Our Commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals

Our projects directly contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, a global blueprint for achieving a more just, equitable and sustainable world by 2030.
By working alongside local leaders and communities in Arusha, we help turn these global goals into real, tangible impact at the grassroots level.
